| A Comprehensive Literacy Curriculum provides an evidence-based learning framework for educators to focus on what they want learners to know, have and be able to do. The central focus of instruction is helping learners construct meaning through reading, writing, listening, viewing, speaking, and/or representing. It includes instructional techniques, methods, approaches and strategies to promote learner success. By developing a strong understanding of the components of a Comprehensive Literacy Curriculum, along with appropriate assessment and instruction, educators may better assist learners in making conscious choices about the skills and strategies they will use to support learning in all content areas.
